The Tasty Sandwich Shop, often called "The Tasty", was a restaurant that operated from 1916 to 1997 near the intersection of JFK Street and Brattle Street, at the center of Harvard Square, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. A favorite for Harvard Students, MIT Students and Boston club hoppers for decades. Once dubbed 'the post profitable restaurant per square foot' owing to packed standing room only in its 210 square feet. The Tasty closed in 1997, after 81 years in business. The Hilltop Steakhouse was a chain of restaurants in Eastern Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire that existed from 1961 to 2013. The original location opened in Saugus, Massachusetts in 1961, and operated until 2013. In a hilltop location with a giant saguaro cactus sign, the restaurant was a landmark on Route 1 north of Boston. The last restaurant existed only as a butcher shop in Weymouth. The other locations with Hilltop restaurants were Hartford, Nashua, Braintree, and Springfield. Who can forget the 60 foot neon cactus sign?
