The Lockheed P-38 Lightning is an American single seated, piston-engined fighter aircraft that was used during World War II. Developed for the United States Army Air Corps, the P-38 had distinctive twin booms and a central nacelle containing the cockpit and armament. Allied propaganda claimed it had been nicknamed the fork-tailed devil (German: der Gabelschwanz-Teufel) by the Luftwaffe and "two planes, one pilot" by the Japanese. Along with its use as a general fighter, the P-38 was utilized in various aerial combat roles including as a highly effective fighter-bomber, a night fighter, and as a long-range escort fighter when equipped with drop tanks.

During WWII, many staples were rationed... each American was allowed to buy a small amount (even if they could afford more). Everyone got their share, and the soldiers overseas were taken care of. Was a German manufacturer of civil and military aircraft before and during World War II. Many of the company's successful fighter aircraft designs were slight modifications of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190. It is one of the predecessor companies of today's Airbus.

Vintage VF-17 Jolly Rogers Squadron Design. VF-17 Fighter Squadron, knowns as the Jolly Rogers, was a fighter squadron of the US Navy established in 1943. It was the second Navy Squadron to receive the F4U Corsair, and became the most successful of them all while based on the Solomon Islands during WW2. Postwar, VF-17 was redesignated as VF-61, and disestablished in 1959.
