Each letter portrays a major theme/motif/symbol in the play. H - extremes and duality. Quintessence of dust vs. how like an angel, fertility vs. chastity and denial, love vs. sorrow. A - death and damnation. There aren't a lot of mentions of Heaven, but there are many for Hell. M - flowers. Ophelia's flower scene and the garland she drowns in sum up many key points and character realtionships using flower language. L - mistreatment of women. E - fate and destiny, often associated with stars. T - rot and decay.

A Connection to Everything: The Tree of Life commonly represents the interconnectedness of everything in the universe. It symbolizes togetherness and serves as a reminder that you are never alone or isolated, but rather that you are connected to the world. The roots of the Tree of Life dig deep and spread into the earth, thereby accepting nourishment from Mother Earth, and its branches reach up into the sky, accepting energy from the sun and moon.

This ancient Egyptian hieroglyph means life or living. Over time the ankh has come to symbolize eternal life and immortality to people from many walks of life. In ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, the gods are always seen carrying an ankh, making it a symbol of divinity. This symbol is also chosen by some who wish to show that they have spiritual beliefs rather than beliefs belonging to one specific religion. The Ankh is also known as the Egyptian Cross, or by its Latin name, crux ansata, which translates to 'cross with a handle.'

Often referred to by many as a Triskelion, its earliest creation dates back to the Neolithic era, as it can be seen at the entrance of Newgrange, Ireland. The Triskele gained popularity in its use within the Celtic culture from 500BC onwards. This archaic symbol is one of the most convoluted to decipher as symbolists believe it is reflective of many areas of culture from the time. Some of these connotations include: life-death-rebirth, spirit-mind-body, mother-father-child, past-present-future, power-intellect-love and creation-preservation-destruction to name but a few.

The horned god is one of the many names given to the male aspects of spirituality and life, and this term most often used within the tradition of Wicca. This symbol can be used to invoke the god during rituals and other magical work. The horned god is associated with the wilderness and virility. Some people also believe that it is the horned god that carries the souls of the dead to the underworld.
