Tynemouth Long Sands is a beautiful stretch of beach. This blue flag beach is a popular all year round tourist attraction offering mile long walks across golden sands past dunes and rock outcrops. This image was shot on a cold, sunny October morning with the impressive St Georges Church in Cullercoats reflecting on the wet sand.

This image was taken on a very blustery day in January with the North Sea crashing into Tynemouth Pier, with the early morning light casting a golden glow in the sky which is reflecting off the pier and the waves. Work on the pier was started in 1854 and it was originally curved, but storm damage to the central part of the pier led to it being re-built in a straight line. The image is also available in colour.

Quiet start to a lovely December morning at Tynemouth Long Sands on the North East Coast of England. The sun is just about to rise above the horizon and has cast a lovely colour onto the sky which in turn is reflected in the wet sand giving a minimalist feel to the image. Tynemouth Priory stands on a headland on the northern bank of the River Tyne. The Priory is thought to have been founded in the early part of the seventh century and is the burial place of three kings; Edwin of Northumbria was the first in 651a.d. then Osred, King of Northumbria in 792a.d. and finally Malcolm III King of Scotland in 1093. This image was taken on an overcast June morning from a local authority car park.
