A crisp winter's day. The snow crunching under your feet and the low winter sun casting cool shadows across the snow. A great subject to paint.

I used a combination of collage and acrylics for this painting of dandelions

I used watercolours for this delicate water lily, using wet in wet effects for the background, tipping the paper and allowing the paint to run.

Waxwings tend to only be in our area when it is a cold winter, so it is quite special to see them. On this occasion they were near a local nature reserve eating berries and close enough to photograph, which gave me the reference material for this watercolour painting.

From the window I watched goldfinches gathering nesting material in the garden. Inspired by this I made sketches and worked on this mixed media painting combining watercolours, acrylics, collage and rubber stamping.

The scene is a local walking and cycling trail in Ilkeston, Derbyshire that we often visit through the seasons. Enjoy the tree lined path, the sound of the birds and being out in the fresh air.

These brightly colored goldfinches are painted in acrylics and set against the snowy winter branches, and background collage.

I printed the background using leaves and flowers from the garden, then drew the butterflies in coloured pencil. The butterflies are: Red Admiral, Gatekeeper and Peacock (from top to bottom)

I managed to get a quick snapshot of this little rabbit whilst we were walking on a local nature trail. I used a mixture of techniques for the background including wet in wet, resist techniques (masking fluid and candle wax) and salt. For the detail on the rabbit I used coloured pencils.

This snowflake-like nature print was created using natural materials. Leaves and petals were used with soft pastels to create the print in purple and turquoise.

The gardener's friend, this colourful robin redbreast, stands out against the winter foliage. Ink, rubber stamping and coloured pencil are combined to create this British garden bird favourite.

These beautiful finches visited our garden on a snowy winter's morning, their markings standing out against the grey surroundings. This inspired me to create my painting using acrylic paint and collage.

This lovely woodland walk is made even more special when the bluebells form a carpet around the trees. I used coloured pencils to capture the scene.

I enjoy birdwatching and Norfolk is a great place to see wading birds including these avocets. I was fortunate to get close enough to take reference photos which I used for this artwork created in a mixture of collage and watercolour.
