These characters were inspired by the 1986 cult classic, Big Trouble in Little China. There's Jack Burton (2nd variation without weapons) as the big goofball all American trucker who believes he's the hero everybody needs and the villainous, Lo Pan who is a powerful wizard cursed with no flesh and is seven feet tall. Then there is little old, Egg Shen with his six demon bag who is equally a powerful wizard and Lo Pan's eternal nemesis. The only female is the lovely, spirited Gracie Law who is a lawyer from Chinatown protecting immigrant rights and lastly, the true hero of the bunch is Wang Chi. His pursuit to rescue his beloved Miao Yin is what all the trouble is about.

The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is located in the central part of the Eurasian Continent, on the northwest border of China. It covers about one-sixth of China’s total territory and only a tiny fraction of the land area in contains is suitable for human habitation. The region is on the silk road that has been used for trade for centuries. Where we are visiting is on the one point where Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and China meet. The local people are nomads and are skilled horsemen. This image shows a ceremony that was performed for us in their ceremonial costumes.

The graffiti echos the title of one of the successful spaghetti westerns."The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" film from 1966 epic was directed by Sergio Leone and stars included Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef. Eastwood's character was not named in the film... being referred to only as ..."the man with no name"!

The Golden Voyage of Sinbad is a 1973 fantasy adventure film directed by Gordon Hessler and featuring stop motion effects by Ray Harryhausen. Based on the Arabian Nights tales of Sinbad the Sailor, it is the second of three Sinbad films released by Columbia Pictures, the others being The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (1958) and Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger (1977).

Part of my Berlin Wall series. The full set of images seeks to capture the role the wall played in the cold-war politics through art daubed into the wall itself. Graffiti of "Hope" in what for years appeared to be a hopeless situation.

Many of us with have our own special SUPER HERO. It may be our MUM OR DAD or Grandparent. Our heroes may be fictional from comics books now come alive in 2D or 3D at the cinema. Comic strips of the early 20th century provided the perfect visual medium for the development for these larger-than-life characters, and in June 1938 writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joseph Shuster unveiled Superman, the archetypal superhero. Spider-Man, comic-book character who was the original everyman superhero. In Spider-Man’s first story, in Marvel Comics’ Amazing Fantasy, no. 15 (1962), American teenager Peter Parker, a poor sickly orphan, is bitten by a radioactive spider. As a result of the bite, he gains superhuman strength, speed, and agility along ...

Dripping paint here looking like heavy rain. We say that boring moments or activities in life are like "watching paint dry".. but paint can be and is exciting. Colour in the hands of skilled artists often is exciting to watch something being created before or eyes.

As we are taught at school ...EACH rainbow has 7 visible colours: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. BUT is that true? Well NO... Issac Newton did a great deal of pioneering work on light and summarised the effect of white light being split into colours at the familier red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet, But this is only a SUMMARY. There are millions of colours that our eyes can detect, more colours than we can put a name to, and so the rainbow "7" are bands of similar colours.

I love to look at rainbows with childlike pleasure. Similarly with shafts of light that stream through intricate stained-glass or a busy artists palette. It lifts the soul. After the gloom, comes light. After the storm, comes brightness again. Also in life.

Though the words “stained glass art” may trigger thoughts of medieval cathedral windows, today’s contemporary artists are proving that the thousand-year-old craft is anything but outdated. Inspired by the stained glass of the Middle Ages, many of today’s contemporary artists put a modern twist on medieval techniques are are free to exploit the full colour range in 2D and 3D art works, that transform entire environments with dazzling, abstract beams of light and colour.

Holding out for a HERO .... The song title performed by "Bonny Tyler" evokes the wait for a superman to come and do amazing things; great feats of strength; saving the world. In reality the wait can be a long ones as supermen and women do not come often to "save the world". However there are millions if not billions of people alive today who perform amazing things on a daily basis. They are today's super-men and super-women and children who do small acts of kindness. Looking after the old, frail and the sick or ill. Individuals who care for animals, care for our environment and are active and enthusiastic about recycling. House-wives, house-husbands, doctors and medical staff, emergency services... THEY are HEROES. Super-heroes.

In a supermarket car park that appeared to be the location where shopping trollies went to be dismembered, somebody had inked onto the wall the three letter word... "CAR" to remind us what the car-park was designed and built for.

Wang Chi is the protagonist of Big Trouble in Little China, and Kurt Russell is the ethnic sidekick. The poster oughtta reflect that, oughtn't it?

The Majorelle Garden is a two and half acre botanical garden and artist's landscape garden in Marrakech, Morocco. It was created by the French Orientalist artist, Jacques Majorelle over almost forty years, starting in 1923, and features a Cubist villa designed by the French architect, Paul Sinoir in the 1930’s.

Steam loco first travelling at 100MPH was greatly acclaimed (“Flying Scotsman” became the first steam locomotive to be officially recorded reaching 100 mph, during the 393-mile trip for London and Edinburgh ... or the GWR City of TRURO). Milestones harness human endeavour (first sub-4 minute mile by an athlete), first man on the moon etc

This traffic sign is to enforce a NO STOPPING order. No exceptions; except in an emergency. Stopping to drop off passengers is NOT generally considered an emergency. It is designed to aid traffic flow for the benefit of all motorists and road users. It is distinctive and easily recognizable .However it is often ignored! Fines are usually imposed. This could be adopted as the sign of our youth. NO STOPPING. JUST DO IT.

The Fourth plinth is the northwest plinth in Trafalgar Square in central London. It was originally intended to hold an equestrian statue of William IV; but is used as a short-term art space. Works are commissioned and are usually outrageous and controversial. Inspiration was the ‘Gift Horse’. I was a skeletal, riderless horse in bronze and sat on the 4th plinth in 2005.

On 21 October 1805, the Royal Navy clashed with the Combined French and Spanish fleet at Cape Trafalgar, off the coast of Spain. The victory had massive repercussions for Napoleon's France and the future of the shape of Europe for centuries to come. An historic event commemorated in central London by Nelson Column in Trafalgar Square. Much visited by millions of tourists each year.

It is usually said the "dogs are not just for CHRISTMAS" but need looking after throughout the year; feeding, watering, given exercise, cleaning, love and attention. CARs are similar. For many they are a means of transport getting families from A to B. They need love too. Feeding, washing and maintaining. We can hand wash our car OURSELVES to demonstrate our love towards it in a special way; use one of the many hand valet services at the local supermarket... "wash as we shop". There are also drive though washers.

PARCHED is a one-off image to illustrate the power of a single photograph/image to SHOUT 1000 words. Photography is a powerful medium to challenge exiting ways of doing things and look to the future if no action is taken. The wardenship we have of our planet (we certainly do not OWN it") is in our hands for a short time and we can ruin it so quickly. The case of global-warning is a pressing issue but with depressingly little concerted GLOBAL action to reverse the effects that will fall heavily on our children and children's children
