In explaining Blackwater's purpose, Prince stated: "We are trying to do for the national security apparatus what FedEx did for the Postal Service". After working with SEAL and SWAT teams, Blackwater USA received its first government contract after the bombing of the USS Cole off of the coast of Yemen in October 2000. After winning the bid on the contract, Jamie Smith ran the program at Blackwater that trained over 100,000 sailors.

Blackwater Systems was a company opened on the planet of Falleen sometime before 24 BBY by the criminal Granta Omega and scientist Jenna Zan Arbor as a research and development facility for the Zone of Self-Containment drug. The company was known for ignoring environmental and safety laws, and was the target of a protest group that attempted to expose its illegal actions. In 24 BBY, several Jedi infiltrated Blackwater's factory, and Omega chose to destroy it rather than let his work be discovered.

Blackwater is a settlement featured in Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online in the Great Plains region of the state of West Elizabeth. Blackwater is an industrialized settlement and is the largest and most modern town in Red Dead Redemption, serving the area as a thriving port on Flat Iron Lake. Blackwater is the second largest settlement in Red Dead Redemption 2, second only to Saint Denis. It features cobbled streets with gas streetlamps, the earliest mass-produced automobiles, and telephone poles. The city has also been the site of a bloody gunfight dubbed "The Blackwater Massacre" of 1899.
