This is it, this was the place be at in the late ’50. The first Jazz club at ‘The City’ open up on December 15, 1949 at 1680 Broadway Avenue just north of West 52nd Street in Manhattan. John Coltrane record couple of live LP, Count Basie's Basie at Birdland. Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, Louie Bellson, Bud Powell, Johnny Smith, Stan Getz, Lester Young, and Ella Fitzgerald among other jazz celebrities. The clubs were frequented by; Frank Sinatra, Ava Gardner, Gary Cooper, Marlon Brando, Marilyn Monroe, Sugar Ray Robinson, Marlene Dietrich, Joe Louis, and other celebrities at that time. This is my version of the logo and concept of that first ‘Birdland’ club. The Club closed in 1965 and reopened in another location in 1986.

For his fans, Buddy Rich was the greatest jazz drummer of all time. He kept his audience in suspense with long solos, only to leave the stage covered in sweat afterwards. The American secured his long-term success with his own orchestra. Born into a family of artists and already gave concerts at the age of four under the pseudonym Traps the drum wonder. At the age of fifteen he became (after Jackie Coogan) the second highest paid child star of the 1930s [1]. He made his first experiences as a jazz drummer with Joe Marsala in 1937 and was then signed by Artie Shaw. A very special piece with a very talented latin musician introducing to mainstream latin jazz as another gender to jazz, Mongo Santamaria as special guess on "Afro Blue". Also, an emotional tribute to four black children killed in the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing, a terrorist attack in Birmingham, Alabama perpetrated by white supremacists, named "Alabama".

Scott LaFaro was an American jazz double bassist active from 1955 until his death in 1961. He became particularly well known for his work with pianist Bill Evans and is one of the most influential bassists in jazz history. LaFaro revolutionized the playing of the double bass, introducing new techniques and approaches that fundamentally changed the role of the bass in jazz. His playing was characterized by impressive technique, remarkable musical sensitivity, and exceptional improvisational ability. LaFaro died in a car accident at the age of only 25.

Brad Mehldau is an American jazz pianist and composer known for his virtuoso playing technique and inventive improvisational skills. He was born in Florida in 1970 and began playing the piano at the age of six. Mehldau later studied music at the New England Conservatory of Music and the Manhattan School of Music.
