This was a great scene in Season 9 of Doctor Who when we finally learned why the Doctor has the face of a person he saved long ago. (Peter Capaldi first appeared in Doctor Who in Season 4 during the Fires of Pompeii.) Later in that episode, the Doctor says something that I found particularly apt: "But you see, that's the trouble with viewing reality through technology - it's all too easy to feed in a new reality." I've watched 'The Girl Who Died' a half dozen times in the week after it aired, which isn't unusual for me after every new episode. It seems that every Whovian has "their" Doctor. This is usually their first Doctor or their favorite Doctor, or both. I don't like playing favorites. "My" Doctor is always the one I'm currently watching. But, be that as it may, the ninth Doctor introduced me to Doctor Who. I've told the story many times - I didn't like the show at first. I didn't hate it either. I just didn't find it very interesting for the first three to five episodes. On many levels, Doctor Who is sort of a slow burner, as there are a lot of strange things about the show, especially for an American. Most people think they can "work off" their adipose. Mostly because they don't know better. But those who know the truth know the Adipose are way more than cute blobs of walking fat. They know to warn others. So forget "beware of dog" and make sure everyone knows ... "Beware of Adipose!"

“We all change when you think about it. We're all different all through our lives. And that's okay, that's good. You've got to keeping moving. As long as you remember all the people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this, not one day. I swear. I will always remember when the Doctor was me.” I came up with this idea shortly before the premiere of the Series 8 and the new Doctor, Peter Capaldi. I wanted to honor all the regenerations in one painting. It's one of my largest - 48" x 24". The concept of a regenerating lead character is what makes Doctor Who so special. The 10th Doctor's popularity is unquestionable. Everybody loves him. Girls love him. Guys want to be him. Clara called him the hero in the Day of the Doctor and I felt that was an appropriate title for this painting. With the War Doctor, the 10th Doctor, and the 11th Doctor in the same barn (isn't time travel fun), she remarked about the 10th being the hero - "We've got enough warriors. And any old idiot can be a hero." Of course, every version of the Doctor has been a hero, but the 10th Doctor embodied that role. Wilfred Mott is every Whovian’s grandfather. Throughout series Four, we knew that the Doctor’s life would end with four knocks. Everyone assumed the four knocks was leading to the Master. And after the Doctor defeated the Master and Rassilon, it was Wilfred’s selfless mindset that led to the 10th Doctor’s demise. Also, Wilfred and the Four Knocks sounds like a cool indie rock band. The background, starry tardis, was inspired by Alice X Zhang.
