Bison art

A2 Watercolour on card This piece took a while to paint but I'm happy with the end result. This is one of my favourite films and I've done a few paintings using it as a theme but this image in particular is one I've planned on painting for a long while. I really like the setup of the compositon, it's almost like a comedic twist on The Last Supper, only instead of a temple, it's a bowling alley.

A little-known Sheffield artist, my great grandfather John Wheelhouse painted around the Yorkshire village of Heeley in the 1920s.

Watercolor painting of 'Sleeping Smaug', fanart based on the book by J.R.R. Tolkien. It was made as a custom order for a great Tolkien fan from UK. I like how the golden glow and foreground details turned out. The way Smaug grabs his treasure with his wings was intended - I wanted him to look all greedy and malvolent even though his fast asleep. Original painting was painted on Fabriano Watercolor Paper (A2 size) using White Nights Watercolors. It took me about 40 hours to finish this artwork. I am going to make more Tolkien inspired illustrations in the future :) I will be happy to hear your suggestions!

Just finished this painting, it was barely dry by the time I was scanning it in. I’m not too fond of this piece, The techniques I used to paint this didn’t work too much in my favour and the overall result came out more messy than I planned. The idea was to create a vibrant, marble like watercolour to reflect the peacock’s colour scheme, but the watercolours would bleed and simply not dry quickly enough to create random colour variations. I think part of the probem was the composition here, since the body of the peacock is relatively small when the feathers are included and although they are part of the main characteristic associated with peacocks, there’s a lot of blank space and un-interesting colour in the feather area.
