I made this when reading up on the history of the Black Panther Party and how it was targeted and destroyed by the FBI & Cointel Pro. All the propaganda about the violence or radicalism of the party when they were giving breakfasts, educational materials, uplifting and protecting their communities.

I was travelling back home in India and while rotting in bed one day, I started doodling cats. I have no experience with anatomy or any real life drawing experience and the cats turned out to be weird little dudes who look like a mix of t rexes, cats and my anxiety.

So I challenged myself to use images that I had leftover that I wouldn't usually use, and am quite pleased at how it turned out. Something about it feels very haute couture embroidery.

Just a Warhol type block of cat memes. An awkward heavy breathing cat.. I call him Onions. He just likes to stick his face real close to yours and breath. Don't make it weird.

This is one of my favorite ways to collage - a portrait made up of so many different parts: a true Gestalt expression.

I made this for a very good friend, based off her own graffiti tag and image, filling it in with imagery that reminds me of her. An homage, a love letter and a deep abiding love for one of those once in a lifetime friends- no matter how far.

I was lucky enough to wander through the Louvre and was fascinated by the history of the Salon and the arts that were exhibited/championed/considered classics and the early rejection of what we consider classic artists like Impressionists who exhibited in anti-salons. I mean, that's so interesting, we take for granted that classic art is the best art, but is it? by what standards? what was left out? who was left out? And finally... given that classic art often pictures portraits of the wealthy who could afford to get their portraits painted... is this all art in museums really is?
