Sagrada Familia From La Pedrera The Sagrada Familia Temple viewed from Casa Mila or La Pedrera House's terrace. Antoni Gaudi, Barcelona Gaudi thought of everything when he designed his houses, parks and the still unfinished Sagrada Familia. He planned this natural framing of the cathedral from another of his designs in La Pedera rooftop. Antoni Gaudí was a Catalan architect whose distinctive style is characterized by freedom of form, voluptuous colour and texture, and organic unity. The close integration between the construction, form, and decoration of Gaudí's buildings reveals his interest in nature and his belief that the structure of a natural object informs its shape and embellishment. Mila (2) looking angelic although it was short lived. After I took these shots of her today, she changed immediately out of her 'angel dress' and into shorts and a t-shirt, only to play in the mud, change again, fall in a puddle, change again, have a fight with her four year old brother, get pushed over on the wet trampoline, change again.... ah, the life and laundry of lovely little Mila...

More from our holiday, where I never got much beyond snapshot mode, being too busy building sand castles and the like. Hudson (4) and Mila (2) walking together as they often do; no doubt Hudson is telling Mila deep and mysterious insights into the nature of the universe, love, life and how to get Mom to buy ice creams... Mila and I have been playing dress-up. Mila's older sister, Perrin (15), bought this little hat for a fancy dress party she went to and I couldn't resist trying it out on Mila. We had a lot of fun. Best viewed large.

All of my children have had (or still have) curly hair, I cannot count the number of knots I've unknotted... Mila's are especially bad as she winds her curls around her fingers until they're completely entangled, sometimes trapping her fingers in the process. I love the quietness on her face in this portrait, and her eye lashes against her cheeks.

Yet ANOTHER portrait of Mila. I know. Monet had his haystacks, didn't he? Well, Mila is my haystack, and a very sweet and lovely haystack she is. This is my fourteenth work in my 52 week challenge. A portrait of Mila, 5. Because I was feeling out of sorts, and doing portrait photography is a form of self-medication for me. Feeling much better now. : P

This is Mila (4 and a half) and Levi (12 days old.) I've never done any digital painting before, I'm not even sure what exactly qualifies as a digital painting. Anyway, Mila was holding Levi and they looked so cute together, only the background was this ugly grey mesh (they were on our porch swing bench) so I decided to try my hand at a painting style image. I used another image of mine (of a flower) as part of the background.

My daughter, Mila (2 and a half) shows us how it's done. Children have the ability to revel in the little pleasures of daily life and play, and a firm opinion that housework can always be done later. Taken with my Canon 500D.

My little artist, Mila (4), who draws all day long and who would paint all day long, if I would let her. This was taken using natural light, in front of my bedroom window. More and more I find myself wishing I had studio lights.... sigh... How wonderful that would be. I used my 18-55mm lens because I wanted to see if I am still capable of taking a portrait without my macro lens, which I tend to use for everything. : ) Camera Model Canon EOS 500D

Little Cammy Cat is not sure whether to pounce, play with or eat the intriguing little creature that is staring her down so boldly... let's hope for Mila's sake that she doesn't play too rough. : ) Manipulation using two of my own images. (For those of you who remember Canberra from previous images, and are curious, she now lives with a dear friend of ours and has been re-named Cammy. They love her as much as we miss her, but luckily we can visit her from time to time.)

This one was also taken while Mila (3) was playing outside the other day, dressed in pajamas after her bath. The textures overlayed are from one of Mila's own artworks, an abstract painting she did a while back. : ) If we all put on big, soft, fluffy boots and danced in the garden, we'd probably be far less stressed. (Well, I think I might be, anyway. It seems to work for Mila.) Both shots were taken with my Canon EOS 500D

Everyone needs somebody to tell their secrets to! My wonderful husband gave me a wacom tablet for Christmas!!! I am having SO MUCH FUN. I have wanted one for the longest time, but was too scared to get one in case I found I was useless with it. Well, I know I have a way to go, and this is only my second attempt with it, but I love using it, so much... I feel like a whole new world just opened up to me. (As you can imagine, the laundry is piling up, the dishes are begging to be done, the dust is collecting in the corners of my house ... and I just don't care.) This is based on a photograph that I took of my daughter, Mila (6).

This is a silly photomanipulation of my daughter, Mila (6) and her cat, Somerset Rose. I was in the mood to mess around in Photoshop today, and I haven't photographed Mila for so long, I think I was in withdrawal... lol. Somerset Rose grew such an incredibly thick and frizzy winter coat that it matted all up and in the end we had to concede defeat and get her a haircut, just in time for spring. I so appreciate the fact that my children are so talented that I don't need to hire a photographer to do mom and tot shots of me with my little ones... lol. Mila (2) keeps sitting on the window sill to keep me company while I run on my treadmill and the light behind her is so pretty that I keep wanting to take a shot. In the end I indulged my desire to take yet another portrait of Mila, as I so often do. Now maybe I can run on my treadmill tomorrow without itching to get hold of my camera. I hope so.
