These little pansies are so delicate and pretty, and hard to photograph! (Well, I struggle, anyway.) To capture their velvety fragility in two dimensions is really hard. You may not think so to look at my work, but I'm quite a perfectionist and will debate with myself for ages before uploading new work, as to whether it's good enough or not... most times I decide it's not. My poor computer is groaning under the weight of files that were ALMOST good enough, but didn't quite satisfy my strict requirements... lol. (Wish I was as merciless when it comes to actually deleting them forever!)

I've been experimenting with gouache, though I'm not sure I'll get very far! It's not something I've tried before, I kind of feel like a kid playing with craft paint... But I do love tulips, and these coral red blooms make me happy. : )

I've been enjoying the evening light these spring days, and finally got my hands on some poppies, only to find out how very difficult they are to photograph. (Kind of like newborns...) Sigh. Their stems make me smile, though, remind me of my children. A few days ago, we had a black frost come through our garden and my beautiful, enormous bougainvillea plants were frozen from the ground to the sky; the next day all the leaves were shriveled up and dead... But this afternoon I was outside and saw the way the sun was catching the blossoms - they're all crisp and fragile, the frost must have got them, too - but somehow they are so lovely still. Breaking the rules, because the center is all blur and the only focus is at the edges... but I like it, anyway. I love the big blurry circle that is the backside of the central daisy. : )
