Although CCD is not fully understood, it appears to be a destructive synergism of multiple drivers of collapse. To celebrate World Bee Day I went out late this afternoon for a spot of local wildlife photography - set upon getting an image that exemplified all that is bees... There was quite a variety of different bees about, ranging from the most massive bumble bee on rhododendron to smaller apids, such as small mason bees... but nothing as an image really grabbed me... It was only towards the end of the day that I stumbled upon a large patch of wild buttercups where the light was gradually lowering yet just lighting the subject - just right... The angle of incidence helped with this capture and I managed to capture the bee in flight yet keeping sharpness on the subject matter. Decided to call it the "Humdinger Of Life" Happy World B...

Those of you familiar with the works of Mr S Baldrick will get the title :) It took ages for a bee to land in a position that had a bit of blue sky as backdrop. Inspired by my activity as a beekeeper, I want to pay tribute to the bees without whom the world would be lifeless. Save the bees.

One of my favorite things to do is tell Mini AD, my 4 year old son, about strange things in nature. "Son, did you know honey is bee vomit?" He stares at me. By the expression on his face, you can literally tell his brain is furiously processing this information. Honey good. Vomit bad. A grin goes across his face.
